Summer Streets

Ifyou been following the blog, you’ll know we recently became a family of scooter enthusiasts. So imagine our delight when we heard they were closing off seven miles of Manhattan streets to motor vehicles and opening it up for New Yorkers to play, run, walk and bike.

We naturally interpreted this to include scooting!

The annual Summer Street event celebrates New York’s most valuable and recognisable public space – the streets! Taking place over three consecutive Saturdays in August, Summer Streets extends from Brooklyn Bridge right up to Central Park.

With access points along the entire route you can make your adventure as long or short as you want. But with the temperatures soaring in the city, we opted to join the route at 47th Street and scooted upwards towards Central Park.

Afterwards we naturally gravitated towards the Central Park and found a much needed splash pad to cool down in.

It was such a fun and different day out, how often can you scoot freely along the streets of New York without any traffic?

You can find out more about Summer Streets on the event website
